5 Unique Thanksgiving Recipes That Won't Break the Bank But Guests Will Love

Thanksgiving is a time for family, friends, and food. But if you're a small business owner, you know the importance of keeping an eye on the budget. Here are 5 affordable yet mouth-watering recipes to make this Thanksgiving memorable without breaking the bank.


1. Spiced Sweet Potato Soup

Ingredients:

  • 2 large sweet potatoes

  • 1 onion

  • 1 can coconut milk

  • Spices (cumin, paprika)

Steps:

  • Peel and dice sweet potatoes and onion.

  • Sauté onion, add spices.

  • Add sweet potatoes and coconut milk.

  • Simmer until soft, then blend.


2. Cornbread Stuffing (I love cornbread so this is an easy win for me)

Ingredients:

  • 1 box cornbread mix

  • 2 celery stalks

  • 1 onion

  • Chicken broth

Steps:

  • Prepare cornbread as per box.

  • Sauté celery and onion.

  • Crumble cornbread, mix everything, and bake.


3. Garlic Mashed Cauliflower

Ingredients:

  • 1 head cauliflower

  • 3 garlic cloves

  • Olive oil

Steps:

  • Steam cauliflower.

  • Sauté garlic in olive oil.

  • Blend both, season to taste.


4. Sweet Potato Casserole w/ Marshmallows

Ingredients:

  • 5 sweet potatoes

  • 1/2 cup brown sugar

  • 1/4 cup margarine or butter

  • 3 tablespoons orange juice

  • 1 pinch ground cinnamon

  • 1 (10.5 ounce) package of marshmallows (mini or regular size)

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees

  • Peel and slice sweet potatoes, boil until tender

  • Mash sweet potatoes and mix with brown sugar, margarine, orange juice, and cinnamon

  • Spread evenly into baking dish and sprinkle marshmallows on top

  • Bake for 25 to 30 minutes until marshmallows are golden brown

Pro Tip - EAT THE MARSHMALLOWS OFF THE TOP


5. Apple Crisp

Ingredients:

  • 4 apples

  • 1 cup oats

  • 1/2 cup sugar

Steps:

  • Slice apples.

  • Mix oats and sugar, sprinkle over apples.

  • Bake until golden.
