Measuring Success at Starfish

At Starfish, we believe that the key to a successful business lies in understanding and effectively managing costs. We have written extensively here about our mission to empower small businesses with the tools they need to benchmark their expenses, optimize their operations, and ultimately increase their profitability.

So how do we actually measure our own success? Just like our clients - by measuring our profitability over time. And no I do not mean that of Starfish, although that is important, I mean the aggregate of our clients.

We are only as successful as our clients and because of that we have a backend dashboard we look at on a regular basis internally.

It aggregates and anonymizes our customers and looks at:

  • Costs $

  • Profit $

  • Costs Changed $

  • Costs Changed %

  • Profit Changed $

  • Profit Changed %

We look at this similarly to how our clients look at their P&L - period over period and year over year. In order to improve your business the first step is to measure results - the #1 result for us? How much additional profit are we helping our clients make.

Any metrics you think we are missing? Would love to hear from you! Want to take a tour of Starfish? Just drop us a line - support@usestarfish.com
