Thankful Things

Reading Dr. Seuss's Thankful Things with my daughter recently got me thinking about what I'm thankful for this year. With Thanksgiving approaching, it feels like the perfect time to share. So here is a list, in no particular order, of three things I'm most grateful for:

1. The Proactive Support of Family and Friends

I've never been happier or more energized at work, but building a business is HARD. Over the past year, I've dedicated a tremendous amount of time and energy to building Starfish. I'm extremely thankful for my family and friends who believe in me, push me forward, and are the ones who proactively reach out and stay connected. As my commitment to the business continues to grow, their willingness to pick up the slack on the personal side means so much to me.

2. Honest Feedback from Our Customers

We're really lucky to have customers who tell us the truth. They share when they like something and when they don't. I know it can be hard for them to provide critical feedback, but it's crucial for our success. I'm thankful every single time we receive honest input. Is it hard to hear sometimes? Of course! But I know it's the best thing for the company, helping us improve and grow.

3. Guidance from Fellow Tech Founders

I've been blown away by how supportive my fellow tech founders are. We're raising our first outside round of capital in January—having been 100% bootstrapped to date—and it's a new experience for Suresh and me. Over the last six weeks, I've had countless conversations with tech founders to understand how we can set ourselves up for success in our seed round. I'm so thankful for all the advice, insights, and introductions they've offered. It makes me excited to do the same for others!

There are so many more things I'm thankful for, but I wanted to highlight these specific ones. This is my second Thanksgiving as part of Starfish, but our first with real clients, real traction, and real early success.

Being an entrepreneur can be lonely, and all three of these help motivate and energize me.

Wishing everyone a happy Thanksgiving filled with gratitude and joy.
